Joe A. Nesmith, 76, passed away on November 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his Family in Corpus Christi, Tx. He was born on May 2,1937 in Gregory, Texas to Enrique and Josefina Nesmith. Joe grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He worked for the City of Corpus Christi as a senior companion for 11 years. Joe married Modesta Burciaga in 1957 in Corpus Christi, Tx. They were happily married for 57 years. Joe was an elder and greeter at Family Harvest Christian Fellowship, where he served faithfully for 18 years. He enjoyed serving at his church, sports and boxing. Joe is survived by his wife Molly of Corpus Christi, Tx.; his daughter, Isabel (Pete) Perez, of Houston, Tx., his sons, Oscar (Helen) Nesmith of Corpus Christi, Joe Edward (Bernice) Nesmith of Corpus Christi, Jesse (Becky) Nesmith of Corpus Christi, his grandchildren, Pete Vela Jr., Daniel J. Vasquez Jr., Fernando J. Vasquez, Jon Derek Nesmith, Cindy Nesmith Rodriguez, Krystal Nesmith, Joe Edward Nesmith Jr., James Erick Nesmith, Lisa A Chapa, Johanna Nesmith,Jessica Nesmith Gordillo, Julie Nesmith, and 13 great-grandchildren,his sister Guadalupe Rodriguez of Houston, Tx., brothers Raul and Enrique 111 of Gregory, Tx., and his nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Joe Nesmith was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique Jr. and Josefina, his granddaughter Danette Lynn Nesmith of Corpus Christi, Tx.,three sisters and one brother.
A funeral service will be held at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Tx. The family will be greeting friends and relatives on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 starting at 5:00 p.m. with Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Guardian funeral home chapel A. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
