Joard Burnie "J" De La Garza, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on August 1, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 43. Born on November 20, 1982, in San Angelo, Texas, Joard lived a life full of love, creativity, and passion that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A lifelong Catholic with a deep connection to his faith, Joard was a remarkable soul whose presence made the world brighter. His heart overflowed with love, kindness, and compassion. He had an extraordinary ability to uplift those around him with his infectious positivity and boundless energy. To know Joard was to experience joy; his charisma and warmth were unmatched.

Joard’s talents were as vast as they were impressive. Whether it was the music he loved, writing poems, baseball, or skating, he approached every endeavor with natural skill and unwavering dedication. His unique style—whether through his flashy attire or his steezy skating—was a testament to his individuality and confidence. Everything he did was done with excellence and flair; he truly was a legend in his own right.

Family was the cornerstone of Joard’s life. He cherished his loved ones deeply and held them close to his heart. He is survived by his devoted mother Lisa De La Garza; his loving sister Angel De La Garza and brother in law Maximino De La Rosa; his father Burnie De La Garza; his cherished grandmother Carmen De La Garza; uncles Martin, Hector, Ray, and Paul De La Garza; brothers Nathan and Raymond De La Garza; cousin Seairah De La Garza; aunt Evelyn Alvarado; uncle Jesse Rodriguez; cousin Eliza Rodriguez; as well as numerous additional cousins and extended family members who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Joard is reunited in eternal peace with those who preceded him: his maternal grandparents Erlinda and Guadalupe Rodriguez; great-grandmother Refugia Morales; paternal grandfather Ramon De La Garza; great-grandmother Martha Garcia; aunts Terry Rodriguez, Rosie Rodriguez, Margie Schillo, and Sandy De La Garza; cousin Lorenzo De La Garza; and other beloved family members.

Beyond his many talents and accomplishments, Joard will be remembered for the care he shared so freely with others. His mother and sister held a particularly special place in his heart—they were the center of his world. His legacy of kindness, creativity, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.May Joard "J" De La Garza’s memory bring comfort to those who mourn him. His light will shine on through the lives he touched so profoundly. 

A Visitation will be held on August 4, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Guardian Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 5922 Crosstown Corpus Christi, TX 78417. Rosary will begin at 6:30 pm.
