Jesusa Koehler Escobar was called home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2017 at the age of 89. She was born on January 4, 1928. Jesusa "Tute" was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin who will be greatly missed. Jesusa worked as a seamstress, and retired from Bealls Dept. Store after 37 years. In her younger years, when her husband was bedridden from a car accident, she strived to provide for her family by working the fields, getting up at 5 a.m. to make lunch for her kids, as well as many other sacrifices. She retired to enjoy her life, attending family BBQ's, gardening, going to prayer meetings, and always praying for her family. She loved cooking and took great joy in feeding her family. It was her tradition to give us her blessing whenever we left her home.
Jesusa is preceded in death by loving her husband of 50 years, Eligio R. Escobar, Sr; parents, Jesus and Maria G. Koehler; and brothers, Jose B. "Che" Koehler (Maria), and Anselmo "Chemo" Koehler (Viola) . She is survived by daughters, Jesusita Gonzalez (Dario) , and Linda Escobar; sons, Eligio R. Escobar, Jr. (Debbie), and Victor Daniel Escobar (Delma); 12 grandchildren, Dario Jr. (Rosie), David (Lisa), Daniel, and Darren Gonzalez, Honor and Edmond Escobar, Rocky and Divina Escobar, Liza Mata (David), Imelda Elizalde (Michael), Glenda Gutierrez (Robert), and Jon Mayorga; 18 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her puppy, Corazoncito.
She touched so many people with her sense of humor, her compliments, prayers, and songs. She was a very classy lady, and very close to God and instilled her faith in her entire family. Jesusa's last words were "I will Love you more tomorrow than today."
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
