Jesse Leon Askew, 56, of Corpus Christi, passed away on July 26, 2022 after a long illness. Jesse was born on August 30, 1965 to David Askew and Mary Martin in Midland. In 2009, he met Raquel, and they wed on the beach in 2010.
Jesse loved working as a rodeo clown for many years before becoming a foreman for bricklaying. He was a cowboy through and through, from his humor to his bandanas. A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, he loved the ocean, being outdoors, and working with his hands. He joked that his favorite color was purple because that's the color he often was during his rodeo days. Jesse enjoyed making people laugh and spreading smiles.
Jesse was predeceased by his parents, David and Mary. He is survived by his wife Raquel Askew, step-son Robert Griggs and wife Emily, step-mother Sharon Askew, sister Kathy Culpepper and husband Gary of Irving, brother David Askew and wife Robin of Junction, three grandsons, many nieces and nephews, cousins, family, friends and his loyal dog Cowboy.
Services will be held at Guardian Funeral Home – Chapel A on Saturday, July 30 th . Public visitation 9 am. Chapel services by Chaplain Roxanne Mathis at 10 am. Burial to follow at Duncan Cemetery at 11:30 am at 2496 Debra Ln, Corpus Christi, TX 78418 .
The family encourages everyone to wear Jesse's favorite color purple or a bandana in his honor.
