Edith Jerine Pace Watson passed away on December 12, 2022. She was born in Beaumont, Texas on May 29, 1930 to Charles Albert Pace, Sr. and Laura Mabel (Barnett) Pace.
After high school in Beaumont, she studied piano at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia for two years, and then earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at Southern Methodist University in 1951.
After college, Jerine met her first husband, Henry Brock Watson III, at a USO dance at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston. They married in Houston on September 27, 1951, and moved to Corpus Christi in 1959. They had four sons. After their divorce, she pursued her passion for writing and editing. A published author of seven novels and several books of poetry, she also worked in real estate. She loved the Texas Hill Country, astronomy, and her dog, Mister Magoo.
Jerine was pre-deceased by parents, Charles Albert Pace, Sr., and Laura Mabel Pace; two sons, Andrew Brock Watson and John Arthur Watson, and her brother, Charles Albert Pace, Jr.
She is survived by two sons: Kenneth Charles Watson, of Falls Church, VA and William Matthew Watson of Kent, WA; ten grandchildren: Penelope Watson, Laura Watson Flynn, Heather Watson Hardie, Kelly Watson Woelffer, Nathan Watson, Ashley Watson, Jaime Watson, JayR Tinaco, Benjamin Watson, and Camille Watson; and nine great-grandchildren: Wesley Booker, Ryan Booker, Chloe Booker, Ethan Hardie, Wyatt Hardie, Otis Woelffer, Arlo Woelffer, Levi Woelffer, and Zoey Watson.
