Jeanne M.
Elizondo
Dec 17, 1949 — Sep 23, 2026
Jeanne Moreno Elizondo was born on December 17, 1949, to Tirso Moreno and Hendrina “Tiny” Janssen Moreno. She passed away on September 23, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by her beloved family.
Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She is survived by her husband, Jose Vega Elizondo; her children, Drew Garcia (Monica), Annette Mayne, and Gary Garcia (Laura); and her stepchildren, Jose Roberto Elizondo (Monica) and Katherine Elizondo Rosso (Jason).
Her grandchildren Andrea Garcia, Isaiah Garcia, Samson Salas, Jr. (Vanessa), Stephen Salas (Bridget), John Andrew Salas, Joseph Mayne, Gabriela Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, Laura Catherine Whelan (Shane), Daniel Garcia (Kate), Joe Elizondo II, Diego Elizondo, and Andres Elizondo.
Her great-grandchildren Javier Salas, Roman Salas, Samson Salas, Elijah Salas, Zayn Salas, Leighla Flores, Luke Spruill, Lana Spruill, Spencer Garcia, and Joe Elizondo III and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her growing family. To her great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “GiGi,” a name that held a very special place in her heart.
Jeanne is also survived by her siblings, Elly Garza; Jimmy Moreno (Janie); Onesimo Moreno; Mathew Moreno; Jose Luis Moreno (Mary Lou); Mary Ann Avalos (Armando); Mario Moreno (Carrie); and Daniel Moreno. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tirso Moreno and Hendrina “Tiny” Janssen Moreno.
Jeanne was the co-owner of Greenwood Door Company in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she worked until her retirement in 2018. While her work was an important part of her life, the role she treasured most was being a mother and grandmother. She was deeply devoted to her children and took great joy in watching her family grow through the years.
A devoted Catholic, Jeanne’s faith was an important part of her life and helped guide the way she lived and cared for others. She had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
Jeanne also enjoyed bringing her family together through food. Cooking for her family brought her great joy, and everything she prepared came from the heart. For Jeanne, cooking was more than preparing a meal—it was one of the many ways she cared for her family and created memories around the table that they will carry with them forever.
Jeanne was truly full of life. She enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the world, but she especially looked forward to a good gambling trip whenever she had the opportunity. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Her outgoing personality and genuine interest in others made it easy for her to make connections wherever she went.
Those who knew Jeanne will remember her beautiful green eyes, her freckles, her warm and outgoing personality, and most of all, her unwavering devotion to her family. She also carried with her a special connection to her Dutch heritage through her mother, Hendrina “Tiny,” who was from Holland.
Jeanne lived her life with faith, an adventurous spirit, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the care and devotion she gave so freely will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched. The meals she prepared from the heart, the trips and adventures she enjoyed, the conversations she shared, and the countless memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family for generations to come. To her great-grandchildren, she will forever be their beloved GiGi.
May she rest in eternal peace. We love you!
