IN LOVING MEMORY OF
J.D.
Gipson
July 25, 1949 – September 1, 2024
James David Gipson (J.D.) died September 1, 2024 at age 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. Gipson and Mary Hardin Gipson, and his identical twin brother, William P. Gipson, who died at birth.
JD worked several jobs in his career, starting in high school in the grocery business. He also worked for HEB bakery for a while in 1971. He started working for Williams Wholesalers, the local Budweiser distributor, and worked there for 30 years, starting as a draft beer line cleaner and working his way up to Operations Manager. When the company was sold in 2001, JD settled into early retirement after having started working at the age of 15. In retirement, he did a little bit of traveling and a lot of honey-do's he had put off doing. He liked to listen to Elvis Pressley and Neil Diamond, as well as a few country artists. He could listen for hours.
He had a quick wit and could start a conversation with someone he just met and leave feeling like he met a new friend. He always helped a friend in need, even if it was just giving advice. He loved to fish and spent countless weekends fishing on the Nueces River and Lake Mathis. He also fished the Arkansas and White River catching crappie and bass.
He could always put you at ease so much so that he died with a smile on his face, letting us know he is at peace. We will truly miss him.
JD is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Beth (Smith) Gipson, his son James L Gipson of Corpus Christi, his daughter Elizabeth Ann Witttington, his sister Nancy Balsman of Perryville Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.
No services will be held per his wishes.
