It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,and great-great grandmother, Janie Rodriguez, who left us peacefully on November 20, 2025 at the age of 87. Born in San Benito, Texas on January 23, 1938, Janie lived a life full of love, kindness, and unwavering strength.

Janie was known for her warmth, generosity, and remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or a stranger she had just met, Janie had a way of making you feel like you belonged.

Janie is survived by her loving husband, Israel Rodriguez, Sr., her children Sylvia (Johnny) Lerma, Jesse (Cindy) Reyes, David (Ruby) Reyes, Eddie (Kathy) Reyes, Israel Rodriguez, Jr, Jesse (Betsy) Rodriguez, Richard (Debbie) Rodriguez, Michael (Michelle) Rodriguez, 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and her loving dog Cooper.

A woman of deep faith, Janie's life was guided by her strong beliefs, which she carried with grace and humility. Her home was always open, along with her kitchen, where she prepared meals for her loved ones. Grandma Janie often prepared her famous arroz con pollo and bar-be-que on game days when her beloved Cowboys played and on fight nights.

Grandma Janie's legacy extends beyond her family. She was always the first to help someone in need or offer advice when needed. She lived through some challenges in her 87 years, but she faced them all with a courage that inspired those around her. Her love of life, her laughter, and her ever-present smile will be remembered by all who knew her.

Janie is preceded in death by the father of her children, Jesse (Pop) Reyes, her parents, Juan and Conception Gloria, her brother Benito Gloria, sisters, Josie and Ofelia, great-grandson Jose Manuel (Jay) Gomez, daughter Linda Valent, granddaughter Yvonne Villanueva, and her pets Tiny, Gordito, and Happy.

Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Reyes, David Reyes, Brian Gomez, John-David Lerma, Christopher Reyes, and Ira Rodriguez, Jr.

All services will be with Guardian Funeral Home 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, TX 78417.  A Holy Rosary will be recited on December 1, 2025 at 6:00. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 11:00.  A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 12:30 with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2731 Comanche St, Corpus Christi, TX 78408.

Janie's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of love, warmth, and kindness will never be forgotten.
