Obituary

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Janelle Rogers Miles joined her husband of 59 years in heaven. Janelle celebrated her 96th birthday a couple of weeks ago with friends & family present.

She was born to Mary and Johnnie Peveto Rogers of Port Neches, TX on October 22, 1928.

Janelle is preceded in death by her husband, EB Miles and her parents Mary and Johnnie Rogers of Port Neches, TX. She has outlived many friends as well.

As a young woman Jan graduated from Port Neches High School in 1946, then attended colleges Texas State and Sam Houston State. She participated in various clubs at both colleges. She worked at Mobil Oil (Magnolia) in Beaumont, Texas. There she caught the eyes of four suitors, but held out for the love of her life, EB. They were married in August 1951 and had three children, Jan, Brenda, and Greg.

She has lived in Port Neches, Beaumont, Salem Oregon, Waco, Kerrville, and finally Corpus Christi, and has travelled widely.

Janelle was a shining star in every way. She sold real estate in Beaumont while raising a family. She was an incredible seamstress and was recognized for her talents. After retirement she became interested in quilting and became a master quilter. She was known as the "Queen Bee" of her quilting bee in Kerrville, TX. Janelle traveled the globe collecting beautiful fabrics for her projects. She gifted many of her quilts to loved ones and friends, and she also entered them in a variety of shows and won many awards. She was also a Life Master Bridge player.

In 2007, she designed and quilted a wall hanging for a wine label contest and won the competition, meaning her art graces the labels of a bottling of wine.

Janelle is survived by her children, Jan Lenoir Miles Harrigan and her husband Tom Harrigan of New Orleans, Brenda Miles of Corpus Christi and Greg Miles of Estes Park, Colorado, grandsons Morgan Moses and Zachary Moses of San Antonio, and VIPs Deb and Les Adams of Houston, Erika Metzler of Estes Park Colorado, and David Kozowski of Corpus Christi.

She is also survived by her sister Beverly Scheid and her nieces Deb Adams, Lisa Chapman and Dianne Brown.
