Surrounded by family and friends, Jane Kemp went to receive her reward from Jesus on October 9, 2013. 'Grandma Jane' or as affectionately known as 'Meme' was loved by all. She was an avid animal lover that never said no to a stray dog or cat. Jane lived each day to the fullest and thoroughly enjoyed her life activities. She was Secretary to the Principal at Hamlin for 23 years. She also was Secretary to the Principal at Cullen for the last 6 years of her work for the Corpus Christi Independent School District. For 15 years she carried two jobs. Her second job for 15 years was working in the accounting department at H.E.B. most of her work there was as a Customer Service Representative which she dearly cherished.
One of her hobbies for 25 years was being a Blackjack dealer for High Rollers. She always came home after these fundraising events charged and ready for the next event. Another hobby was working at St. Paul United Church of Christ through the Prayer quilt Ministry in which prayer quilts were made and given to many who requested these quilts for family and friends. She was selfless in her pursuit of rasing her children and grandchildren. She wanted to take care of anyone and everyone who came through her door. Grandma Jane 'Meme' was born on July 22, 1935 in Sherman, Texas the daughter of Earl and Dahlia Stone both now with the Lord.
She is survived by her sister, Elna Terry, nephews, William and Brian of Sherman, her faithful companion Ann 'Nana' of Corpus. Her immediate family includes son, Jeffrey (Jackie) Kemp, their children, Jocelyn, Jacob, Brittany and Sammy of San Antonio, son, Kevin (Barbara) Kemp of Austin, and their son, Kody of Corpus, daughter, Raven Finley and her children, Josh of Dallas, Matthew and Ethan of Corpus. She had seven great grandchildren, Gracie, Noah, Shelby, Joel, Moses, Naomi and Jude.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at Guardian Funeral Home chapel A in Corpus Christi, Texas. A Celebration Banquet will follow the services at St. Paul United Church of Christ 5525 Lipes. Donations can be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ.
