James (Jim) Walter Conn III, 79, of Corpus Christi, Tx. passed away on October 3, 2021.
Graveside service will be 4:30pm on Monday, October 25 th 2021 at Old Saint Mary's Cemetery on Bayside Cemetery Road in Bayside, Texas. There will be an outdoor reception to follow at 5pm in Driscoll Rooke Covenant Park in Bayside, Texas.
James Conn was born in Corpus Christi, Tx. to James Walter Conn Jr. and Emma Belle Conn on February 14th, 1942. He graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Tx. with a degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering in 1964. He then married Martha Conn on May 13th, 1972 at First Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He worked in the oil and gas industry his entire life and retired from the City of Corpus Christi as Petroleum Superintendent for the Oil and Gas Division of the City of Corpus Christi for 25 years and General Manager of the Corpus Christi Area Oil Spill Control for 10 years.
He was an avid historian and was involved in the Bayside Historical Society. He loved auto racing, especially Formula 1 and Indy cars and he also loved go-kart racing with his children. He has been a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church since 1978.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kaye del Barrio.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Martha Conn; his children; Lana (Kris) Benavidez, James Walter (Audra) Conn IV. his grandchildren; Shadow (Madison) Benavidez, Kyea (Eric) Hills, Randy Conn, Harmony Conn, and great granddaughter, Scarlett Benavidez.
We would like to thank neighbors; Dr. Guy Youngblood, MD and his wife Dawn Youngblood, PA., Devoted Hospice RN's Sarina and Sydney, Dr. O'Neil and Debbie Mata RN, Rev. Allen Mosiman, Marilynn and Mike Yankee and the Parkway Member Care Committee, the Fisher Elementary PTA, and all of our longtime close friends.
