IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Richard
Spiering
August 11, 1954 – October 12, 2023
James Richard Spiering, 69, passed away on October 12, 2023 in Corpus Christi TX.
He was born in Menomonee Falls Wisconsin on August 11, 1954 to George and LeMonne Spiering, the youngest of three children. In the '70s his father took a job in Belgium where Jim graduated from the American High School in Antwerp. He graduated from Johns Hopkins in 1976, and worked for Miller Brewing Company in Minnesota while he attended Northwestern College of Chiropractic. After graduating, he moved to Texas with his family, where he worked as a chiropractor from 1989 to 2009. In 2009 he returned to school to attend Del Mar College Nursing program, and continued his career as a RN.
He grew up swimming, and enjoyed it throughout his life, competing in the junior olympics, and earned many awards. Jim enjoyed old cars, and motorcycles, and when computers became more available, he liked tinkering with them. He greatly enjoyed living and traveling throughout Europe, and collected many slides, pictures, and postcards from all the places he visited. Jim had been an active member of Kiwanis for many years, and especially enjoyed volunteering as a member. Like his father, Jim loved his children so much and was so excited to have grandchildren to spoil. He loved spending time with family and loved ones, watching movies, reading, and he could spend many long conversations talking about various interesting "useless facts" and telling horrible dad jokes.
He is preceded in death by father George Spiering, mother LeMonne Spiering, and brother Russell Spiering.
James is survived by daughters, Rachel Hernandez (Jose), and Claire Albanese (Tyler), grandsons, Andres Hernandez, and Everett Albanese, sister Monna Nabers, sister-in-law Kathryn Spiering (Russell Spiering), niece Stacy Parker (Bob), great nephew Nate Parker, and former spouse Susan Ochoa.
At James' request, his body was generously donated to the University of Texas at Houston for the advancement of science.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home, Corpus Christi TX.
He will be greatly missed.
