James V. Sneed completed his earthly journey on March 30, 2022 at the age of 88.

He was born in Archer City, Texas to Willie B. Sneed and Vera Esther Sanders Sneed on August 8, 1933. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many is now at rest.

"Jimmy", as he was intimately known, proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Although born in Archer City, his parents moved to Freer, Texas shortly after his birth, where he would be raised. He graduated from Freer High School in 1951 at the age of 17. Immediately after graduation he would begin pursuing his college education at Texas A&I in Kingsville from which he obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree with a Major in General Agriculture.

Jimmy embodied the definition of a hardworking man and generous provider; working in many different fields before joining the pipeline industry. At roughly the age of 35, he began his tenure at the Natural Gas Pipeline Company; a job to which he dedicated 30 years of service to.
He was blessed to collectively spend many years hunting in the mountains of Colorado; a pastime of which he found great joy.

His hard working hands were never at rest; in his spare time and more so after retirement he pursued the art of Knife making; a craft that he mastered. These handcrafted works of art bless the homes of many throughout the United States; each prestinely cut blade proudly bears the etching "James Sneed Premont Texas." It would be nearly impossible to say that Jimmy is gone; this legacy of strength, perseverance, and dedication will live on for generations to come.

He joins now in heaven his parents Willie and Vera Sneed; brother Billy Lloyd Sneed, Sr.; son-in-law Omar Pena; grandson Jaime Christopher Cantu.

Jimmy leaves behind to cherish these memories his wife of over 50 years Maria Sneed; children: Samuel (Ina) Cantu, Saul (Rita) Cantu, Suzanne Pena (John Disbro), Belia (Rick) Waterhouse; nephew Billy (Vetta) Sneed, Jr.; grandchildren: Samuel, Jr., Courtney, Jessica, Brianna, Jessica Renee, Jeremy, Marc, Ryan, Hallie, Omar Javier, Lucas, Thomas; along with 15 great-grandchildren and a host of extend family and friends whom he loved.

The family will begin receiving visitors at 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at Funeraria del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias, Texas with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Saint Theresa Catholic Church; Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Premont Cemetery.
