IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Ray
Rivera
October 25, 1961 – October 3, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved James Ray Rivera , who was called home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the age of 61.
A beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. James received his formal education at Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating in the Class of 1981. Shortly after graduation he proudly joined the military; serving in the United States Army for 4 years.
On December 18, 1982, two hearts would become one, as Linda Godoy and James Rivera said yes to one another. Through this powerful union came a beautiful life, filled with countless memories of love, joy and an abundance of blessings.
Most would describe James as selfless, patient, faithful and most importantly, humble. He dedicated over 30 years of service to Flint Hills Resources in Corpus Christi; retiring in 2022 as a Process Manager. Hard work and persistence were founding principles for James, conquering any task he set his mind to. He in turn taught his family to be strong, loyal, independent and caring. He was a mountain of a man with a heart of gold. It would be impossible to fully describe the important role he played in our family. He graciously provided for every want and need and did so with a heart of love. He is our rock. This legacy of strength is embedded in our hearts, forever.
James is joined now in heaven by his father Raymond Jessi R ivera and his father-in-law Ernesto E. Godoy, Sr.
He leaves behind to cherish these memories, his loving wife of 40 years Linda Godoy Rivera; sons: James Ray Rivera, Jr. and Justin (Breanna) Rivera; grandchildren: Christian James Rivera (13), Charlee Beth Rivera (5), Luca James Rivera (2) and Miles Alexander Rivera (1); his mother Rosa Maria Guerra; siblings: Regina Trevino, Richard (Terri) Rivera, Robert Rivera, Rory John (Irma) Rivera, and Cynthia (Robin) McGill; mother-in-law Beatrice Godoy, brother-in-law Ernie (Denise) Godoy; sister-in-law Sandra Godoy-Vielma; along with a host of extended members of the family and countless friends whom he loved like family.
