It is with great sadness that the family of James Lee "PawPaw" Parks Jr. announce his peaceful passing at the age of 72 on Thursday, March 18, 2021 of natural causes. James was born in McAllen, Texas on April 1, 1948 to the late Madelyn Verva Brattin Parks and James Lee Parks Sr. James attended McAllen ISD throughout his school years.
James was married to Linda Louise Springs on June 5, 1976 and they resided in Donna, Texas for 30 years before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas in approx. 2007.
James worked for BD Holt in Weslaco, Texas for a period of time before working for French Ellison in Pharr, Texas as a Parts Counter Technician and then moved into the role of Shop Foreman. He fulfilled his dream of being a Mac Tools Distributor under the name of "Parks Tool Time" before retiring in 2007.
PawPaw as he was known in the racing community was a huge fan of circle track racing. After he retired from racing himself, there was no other place he would rather be then watching his son and fellow racing family and friends on a Saturday night. He took many others under his wing and provided guidance, wisdom and sometimes a little entertainment. He will truly be missed
He is survived by his Wife, Linda Springs (Corpus Christi,Tx), Brother, Jonathon Parks (Santa Fe, NM), Son, James Keith Parks, (New Braunfels,Tx), Daughter, Stephanie D. Parks (New Braunfels,Tx), Daughter, Kimberly Parks (Corpus Christi, Tx) Son, James L (Erika) Parks (Petronilla, Tx), 7 Grand Children and 6 Great Grand Children.
He is preceded in death by his father James Lee Parks Sr., his mother Madelyn Parks and his brother Jerry Wayne Parks.
Celebration of life for "PawPaw" will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
