James Garner McCumber entered eternal life on July 12, 2022, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Garner was born in Woodsboro, Texas on July 16, 1940, to John Austin McCumber and Agnes Goodwin McCumber.  He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and was retired from the City of Corpus Christi.

Garner was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Austin McCumber, Jr., sisters Maxine Dippel, Evelyn Gleinser, Margaret Fiore, and Cecilia Ann McCumber.  He is survived by son, James McCumber, sisters Betty Long and Agnes Lytle, brothers Frank McCumber and Mike McCumber, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Garner treasured his relationship with his nephew, Gary McCumber.  Garner is also survived by devoted friends Tommy Hendricks and Chester Rose.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 6 at 2-4 p.m. at Guardian Funeral home, 5922 Crosstown Expressway, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417.  Burial will be at Gussetville Cemetery in George West, Texas at a later date.
