James Richard (Dick) Brown Sr., 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 4, 2017. He was born in Clyde, Kansas. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He owned and operated Dick Brown's Heating and Air until his retirement. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. His avid interest in firearms lead him to teaching the Hunters Safety Course for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for 48 years, as well concealed hand gun classes for the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was a member of the Circle Up Square Dance Club.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Harvin Brown; and his parents, Albert Brown and Jeanette Odette. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Becky); children, Linda Urias, James Robert (Betty), Dennis Richard (Debbie), Eddie Richard (Cathee), Douglas Ray (Shelia), James Richard Jr (Sherry); step-son, Larry Weaver (Robin); former step-daughter, Marilyn Wright.
Dick has 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Weber Road Church of Christ, 5253 Weber Road, Corpus Christi, Texas.
