James Castle went to his eternal reward in heaven on September 30, 2025, age 87, at Christus Spohn Hospital South. After a long illness, he joined his soulmate and beloved wife, Mary.
James was born on January 11, 1938, to Ignacio Castillo and Maria Castillo in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Josephine Palacios Castle, his parents, two sisters, Maria and Elidia and one brother, Felix.
He is survived by his three children, Jonelle Qualia, (Steve), Michael Castle and Mark Castle, (Lori). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jennifer, Rosemary, (Cory), Ashton, (Anthony) and Brandon, (Carmen) as well as seven great grandchildren Deven, Zachary, Emmah, Landyn, Lena, Levi, and Sadie , two brothers, Jose and Henry and two sisters, Rose and Velen. He attended West Oso High School and Del Mar College. He married Mary on September 14, 1960, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Corpus Christ, Texas. Prior to his wife's passing they celebrated 62 years of marriage. He worked as a computer programmer at Spohn Hospital Shoreline, an insurance agent, a real estate investor and co-owner with his wife at Castle Appraisal Services. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church .
James loved to go camping with his family and was noted for his delicious barbecues. He loved his family who will dearly miss him.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown.
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, visitation will continue at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5830 Williams Dr. starting at 10:00 a.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.
The services will be live streamed on Facebook through our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. After the internment all are invited to join the family for lunch in the OLPH parish hall.
