IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Elvert
Bolden, Jr.
November 16, 1943 – August 17, 2022
James Elvert Bolden, Jr. completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. He was born in Brookshire, Texas on November 16, 1943 to his parents James E. Bolden, Sr. and Ceola Flemmings Punchard.
He received his formal education in Corpus Christi, Texas graduating from Solomon M. Coles High School. It was at Coles where he would be a part of the historic 1960 State Championship football team. Coles finished the 1960 season 11-1-1 and overcame Austin Anderson to advance to the state championship game, where it defeated Wichita Falls.
With a zest for life, he perfected the art of swing dancing! His love for music was without judgment; so long as it had a good beat, he was certain to find the rhythm. A perfect evening for James would be watching the Houston Texans or the Oilers playing a game of ball; to say he loved sports would be an understatement. Although there is sadness in parting, we are comforted that our beloved "Donut" as he was affectionately known, is now at rest. His earthly body endured many challenges, but through each battle he fought bravely until the day Our gracious Father called him home.
His heavenly wings have now taken him on the same Pilgrims journey and path of his heavenly loved ones before him that are now in heaven, his wife: Vicki Diane Warner Bolden of Corpus Christi, Texas; parents: James E. Bolden, Sr. and Ceola Flemmings Punchard; sisters: Estella Bolden West of Corpus Christi, Texas and Mae Frances Broughton of Fort Myers, Florida; half-brother: Norman Bolden of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Left to cherish James' memory, children: Aaron Ricky Cox (Shelly) of Washington and Marquis Bolden; four grandchildren: Jamael Benjamin Cox (Alli), Raphael Cox (Rachel), Sean Bolden, and Dalen Bolden; great-grandchildren; brother: Bishop James E. Bolden, III (Cynthia) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, half-sister: Lara Lloyd of Houston, Texas, half-brother: Rocky Bolden of Alice, Texas; sister-in-law: Joy Warner-Carter of Austin, Texas; aunt: Wilda Flemmings of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jean Ester Hall-Howard (Albert), uncles: Roy Hall, Jr. (Susan), and Randy Hall (Vivian) all of Corpus Christi, Texas: nieces and nephews: Yvette Jackson (Frank), Cassandra Miller, Clarence Broughton (Monica), Jennifer Repress, Dwayne Johnson, and Jed Johnson; cousins: Lena Carter, Wilma Anrdrepong-Lee, Jean Kearney, and Aaron Flemmings; a host of additional nephews, extended family members, and friends who have loved James throughout his life.
