IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Roland
Adds
March 11, 1953 – May 18, 2020
James Roland Adds, 67, of Dallas, TX, passed away on May 18, 2020 in Corpus Christi, Texas
James (Jimmy) was born March 11, 1953 in Angleton, Texas to Patsy Ruth Lawrence and Edwin Doyle Adds. Soon after the family relocated to Dallas, Texas where James and siblings would be raised by their mother and a wonderful step father who was only known lovingly as Dad! (Clayton Walker)
James and family were blessed with another father figure, Charles Lins, in later years who welcomed us into his family as well.
James is preceded in death by his grandparents, biological father Doyle Adds, Mother Patsy (Lawrence) Lins and several close friends.
James is survived by his step-father: Clayton Walker and wife Carole of Sunnyvale, Texas; step-father: Charles Lins of Arlington, Texas; sister: Diane (Adds) Bruton of Dallas, Texas; sister: Patti (Adds) Lioon of Austin, Texas; niece: Ashley (Taylor) Yount of Allen, Texas; nephew: Clay Taylor of Pittsburgh, Kansas; niece: Natalie Lioon of Austin, Texas; great-nieces: Hannah Yount, Kylie Yount, Parker Yount, Margaux Williams, Lydia Taylor; great-nephews: Caden Taylor, Bentley Taylor and Ethan Taylor.
James grew up in Dallas in the Urbandale neighborhood and attended Urban Park Elementary, John B. Hood Jr High and W.W. Samuel High School.
Following in his Dad's footsteps, James started and ran James Adds Floors in the late 1970's. He would later close the business in 2005.
Those of us who were fortunate to know James, knew he lived life full, hard and sometimes exhausting! Those of us who were a part of his journey should be grateful. He taught us how to and how not to live, love and survive.
After struggling with leaving a life of success, and loss, James settled in Corpus Christi in late 2008. He shared with us that he had found his place. He was at peace with life and loved the rhythm that the ocean brought. Where everyone was equal and accepted for who they were. He established a new life among friends that quickly became family.
James suffered 3 strokes in early 2018 while living in Corpus Christi. He then moved to Austin, where he lived for 18 months in the care of Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation. While there he added new people to his family; Brandon Delorenzo-Watts, Susie Whitlock, Billie Harrel and many other staff that truly got to know, love and respect him. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Windsor Nursing and Rehab for adding to his quality of life during these difficult months.
It was a difficult decision for all, but James wanted to go home to Corpus to live out his life. He was ready. Through all of this he remained his charming, loving, witful and stubborn self that we all knew and loved.
James moved back to Corpus to another facility on September 13, 2019. He passed peacefully on the early evening of May 18, 2020.
James wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he had made his home for the past 12 years.
