IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jaime Flores,
Sr.
September 16, 1964 – June 26, 2025
Jaime Flores Sr., Age 60, took his last breath on Thursday June 26, 2025 at his ranch home in Premont Texas. He was born on September 16, 1964 to Elivorio and Rebecca Flores in Corpus Christi Texas.
He attended Roy Miller High School and was a member of the Battlin' Buc Showband, except he would have told you that he forgot how to play the saxophone long ago. He furthered his education later in life and obtained an Associate's degree from Saint Leo University.
Jaime served his country with honor and integrity as a Reservist in the Texas Army National Guard as a Signal Support Specialist. He was called to active duty on November 24, 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he spent 11 months in a designated imminent danger area. There he learned to hide the light of the end of a cigarette, that he could still box in a ring and a lot of Arabic all while he cussed up a storm about all the sand. Ultimately, the horrors of this tour would change him for the rest of his life. He was released from active duty having achieved the rank of Sargent First Class and was given various awards including: the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal. He was also employed by and retired from the City of Corpus Christi that he served for over 25 years. He started as a refuse and recycle materials collector, but truly learned how to climb the ranks and retired as the Superintendent or "Boss Man" of the city landfill.
Jaime married his current wife, Rachel Galvez-Flores on June 26, 2007. Together they retired and achieved Jaime's dream of owning some dirt by buying a ranch in Premont Texas in 2017 that they named Hermosa Vista. He loved this piece of land and enjoyed the solitude that it provided, but most importantly, he loved that he had the freedom to continue his lifelong dedication to his own personal brand of decorum.
He will be remembered as a hard-working, stubborn, proud Veteran that never backed down from a fight, an adventure, a project or a cold beer. If you are reading this now, Jaime surely helped you build, rebuild, tear down or fix something at some point in his life. He was a smart man that was good at just about anything he tried to be good at, and if he didn't know how to do it, he would simply figure it out. However, that did not stop him from trying his best to do absolutely nothing except drink, smoke, light a fire and tend to meat on the grill. Jaime faced his death and his mortality, as he did with his life, head on, often telling us that when he kicked the bucket to just dig a hole out on his pasture and roll him in.
Much to his disappointment he will be properly interred with full military honors at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery after a celebration of life to be held at Guardian Funeral home.
Jaime is preceded in death by: Elivorio Flores Sr. (Father), Lucy Flores (Sister), Consuelo Suarez (Sister), Ricardo Flores (Brother) and Amanda Edwards (Step-daughter).
Jaime's Legacy will live on through his children, Jaime Flores Jr., Iris Flores and Michael (Amber) Flores as well as his four grandchildren; Briana (Orlando) Perez, Jasmine (Ryan) Villarreal, Sirena Flores and Jaime Flores III. He is further survived by his mother Rebecca Flores and his siblings: Elivorio "Eli" Flores Jr. (Brother), Selestina "Sally" Flores (Sister), Christina (Ernest) Gonzales (Sister), Javier (Judy) Flores (Brother), Maria "Rosie" (Rene) Soto (Sister), Janie Rodriguez (Sister) as well as his wife Rachel Galvez-Flores and her children Ezra Flores,(adopted son), Sirena Everett (Step-dgtr), Michael Edwards (Step-son).
Public visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Guardian funeral home 5922 Crosstown in Corpus Christi, Texas, 78417. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow with full military honors at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery at 1:00 p.m. 9974 I.H. 37 North Access Rd.
