Jacobo Garcia, 82, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born in Zapata, TX on August 8, 1943, to Tomas and Felicidad Garcia. Jacobo attended school in Zapata before enlisting in the US Army in 1964 where he served during the Vietnam War. After his honorable service, Jacobo settled in Corpus Christi where he continued his education and began his career as a helicopter mechanic at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. His expertise in helicopter mechanics allowed Jacobo to travel to numerous countries during his career. One notable assignment took him to Saudi Arabia, where he was stationed as a civilian during the Gulf War. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Reserve for 8 years. During his early years, Jacobo found fulfillment in staying active by jogging and working out after work each day. He also enjoyed going for rides on his motorcycle. He worked at the Corpus Christi Army Depot until his retirement at age 52. After his retirement, Jacobo enjoyed working in his yard and garden and spending time with his wife and family.
Jacobo was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a proud grandfather who cherished his family above all else. His legacy is one of love and service – values he lived by every day. He will also be remembered for the many stories and jokes he loved to share with his family and friends. Jacobo's life was a testament to service, love, and laughter and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Cristina Garcia; his sister, Consuelo Ramirez (Leonel); his brothers, Tito Garcia, Tomas Garcia, Jr, and Juan Garcia; his daughters, Sara Salinas (Roger), Dina Perez (Frank), and Monica Hanson (Aaron); grandchildren, Roger Rey Salinas (Ashley), Richard Perez (Michelle), Samantha Harris (Terrence), Skyler Douglas (Shane), Frankie Perez, Shelbie McKee (Marco), Olivia Perez, Roman Perez, and Archer Hanson; great grandchildren, Faith Salinas, Mackenzie Perez, Rylee Perez and Evelyn Harris.
Having the distinguished honor to be honorary pallbearers are Roger A. Salinas, Roger Rey Salinas, Richard Perez, Marco McKee, Frankie Perez, Roman Perez, Aaron Hanson, and Shane Douglas.
A Memorial Services will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm that evening.
A private Burial Service will be held for immediate family members only. We kindly ask for your understanding and respect for the family's wishes during this time of mourning. Your thoughts, prayers and memories are deeply appreciated.
