IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacob "Jake"
Tyrone Garcia
May 23, 1972 – August 17, 2025
Jacob "Jake" Tyrone Garcia, 53, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday August 17, 2025. He was born on May 23, 1972 to Jesse Joe and Rosemary Blanco Garcia of Corpus Christi, TX.
Jacob graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1992 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1994, where he served proudly until 1996. Jacob was stationed in Tucson, Arizona and resided there with his wife Kim and their two children until 2015 when he then relocated back to Corpus Christi, Texas and remained until his passing. While in Tuscon, Jacob attended and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2014 with a degree in Engineering, which was fueled by his curious nature and natural ability to problem solve and repair anything from household items to computers. He built a career as an IT Technician for IBM and Raytheon for many years and was currently employed by Corpus Christi Independent School District for the last 7 years.
Jacob was an avid outdoorsman who spent most of his free time swimming, hiking, and camping. A good portion of his summer was spent hiking, rafting, and exploring parts of Utah, Colorado, and Arizona. He returned home with a full belly, a full heart, and even a University of Arizona tattoo that marked his Wildcat pride. When he wasn't outdoors, Jacob could be found playing his guitar, a skill he began learning while attending Chula Vista elementary school. Jacob excelled as a musician; he often uploaded videos of his playing to share with family and friends. If you had the privilege of hearing or watching him play, you know he played with genuine passion and poured his heart and soul into every strum of the strings. Above all of his talents, Jacob was a proud and devoted father to his children and a loving son and brother to his family.
Jacob is survived by son, Neil Garcia of Corpus Christi; ex-wife, Kim Garcia of Corpus Christi; mother, Rosemary B. Garcia of Corpus Christi; brothers Jesse Joe (Tina-deceased) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Jerald Garcia of Burleson, Cody (Lori) Garcia of San Antonio; and sister Michelle (Carlos) Gutierrez of Corpus Christi. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Joe Garcia; son, Trevor Kennedy Garcia; maternal grandmother, Esther Blanco; maternal great grandparents, Severiano and Guadalupe Blanco; paternal grandma, Adela Guerrero; paternal great grandpa Nick Guerrero.
Services for Jacob begin with public visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Guardian Funeral home, followed by a Service to Celebrate his life at noon and burial with full military honors at 2pm at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
