IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacob Lynn
Gottfredson
November 4, 1940 – November 23, 2023
Jacob Lynn Gottfredson
November 4, 1940 – November 23, 2023
Jacob Lynn Gottfredson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born in Circleville, Utah on November 4, 1940, to Gwen and Orion Gottfredson. Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers Burt and Brent, and his cherished first grandson, Jory Remington Gottfredson.
Jacob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janie Gottfredson, daughters Celine Hubbard and Maegen Gottfredson, grandchildren Hunter, Gavin, Jeffrey, Cami, Xander and great-grandsons Ezra and Ryan. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews and cousins in his beloved Utah. Also surviving him are Jacob's Texas Family consisting of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Jacob loved his family and was proud of each one.
Growing up in Southern Utah, Jacob developed his love of all things outdoors and hunting in the mountains of Circleville which he loved so much. Jacob proudly served his country as a Special Forces Green Beret; he then pursued his education. He graduated from the University of Utah where he earned his B.S. in Mathematics and his M.S. in Structural Engineering.
He hunted worldwide, and his most treasured hunt was the time with his brothers on a month-long African Safari. Jacob was also a successful competitive shooter where accuracy reigned supreme. While working as an admired and respected engineer, he also pursued his love of writing. He went on to become a technical writer and optics evaluator for Precision Shooting and then branched into the world of fiction and authored 5 novels.
Jacob always searched for precision and accuracy in his hobbies as well as in his profession. A life-long learner, voracious reader, and student of the great philosophers, Jacob was admired for his vast knowledge of all things shooting and structural engineering. He was also admired for being a mentor to many…His door was "always open" to whomever needed assistance. As his grandson Hunter said, his grandpa's greatest fault was that his grandpa "loved too much," and that his grandpa's greatest asset was that he "loved too much."
