Ismael "Smiley" Zapata, 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2022. He was born January 27, 1961 in Alice, Texas. Ismael was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized on July 12, 1975. He was a member of the Northwest Congregation where he served faithfully with his family and friends. He loved to spoil his one and only granddaughter, Elisa whom he loved immensely. He loved to BBQ and spend time with his family. He touched the lives of many by being a very generous person and always making sure everyone had what they needed. Ismael was a good friend to many and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his
mother, Maria "Mary Lou" Zapata; wife, Elisa Ortiz Zapata; nephew, William "Billy" Gonzalez Jr.
He leaves behind his daughter, Cilicia Marie (Ramiro Jr) Robledo; son, Ismael Zapata Jr;
granddaughter, Elisa Marie Robledo.
His father, Jesus Zapata. His sisters, Zenaida (Blas) Cantu; Zulema (William) Gonzalez of San Antonio;
Nora (Angel) Flores; Noemi Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Brothers, Jesse Jr. (Rose)
Zapata; Samuel Zapata. Many nieces and nephews and great- niece Lily.
His daughter Cilicia would like to thank Abel Ybañez, who was his longtime friend and dialysis buddy, for always looking out for him. His buddy, Ben and Jesla Budjick for always checking up on him and being there for him when he needed them the most. The Robledo and Zapata family would like to give a special thank you to all the brothers
and sisters and other friends for
their prayers, love and support.
