Obituary

Irma Yolanda Ramirez-Galvan, 68-years-old, died on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, Houston, Texas while vigilantly battling Multiple Myeloma with her third Stem-Cell transplant. Her enduring faith and love for family and friends carried her through 3 years of cancer. Throughout her battle with cancer she made a continuous effort to be the best wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend she could be. She sought pleasure in reading, watching movies, family time, and shopping (clothes, shoes and jewelry).
Irma Yolanda was born on September 6, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas and is survived by her parents Andres (Chino) Ramirez and Melba Perales Ramirez, and 3 siblings: Maria Magdalena (Maggie) Ramirez-Rodriguez (Angel Rodriguez), Gilbert Andres Ramirez (Cristina Ramirez), and family adopted sister Rebecca Rae Ramirez-Torres. She is met in heaven by her brother Ramiro (Goofy) P. Ramirez (March 4,1948-August 17, 1996)
Irma is also survived by her lifelong soul mate of 49 years Noel Ramirez Galvan (married on May 8, 1965), 4 children, Noel R. Galvan Jr. (Lora Galvan), Susan Marie Galvan-Luis, and Richard Andres Galvan (Maria Santa Galvan), and Andres (Andy) Ramirez. 7 grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Luis, Alexandra Rose Galvan, John Richard Luis II, Tristen Ramirez, Richard Galvan II, Aubrey Rynae Luis, and Angelina Ramirez and 1 great grandchild Eric Griffin.
Their marriage was the model of commitment, living true to their vows, standing by each other's side in sickness and in health, through the good times and the bad times throughout their life on earth.
Irma spent her career working with the Corpus Christi Independent School District for 28 years in a variety of positions. Retiring after 24 years as a receptionist and data-entry clerk at Zavala Special Emphasis School. Following her retirement, Irma continued to substitute as long as her health allowed.
The Rosary will be held on Friday July 11, 2014 at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown Access Rd. Corpus Christi, Texas 78417 at 7:00pm (visitation 6:00-7:00pm)
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 12, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St. Corpus Christi, Texas, 78416 at 10:00am
Burial will follow the mass with a procession to Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery at 2731 Comanche, Corpus Christi, Texas 78408. A Reception will follow at Nuestra Senora de San Juan de Los Lagos Madre de La Iglesia(Mary Mother of the Church) 1755 Frio St.(Los Encinos).
