It is with deep sadness that our family announces that our beloved, Irene Elaine Figueroa, 46, was welcomed by her Lord and Savior on August 1, 2017 after courageously battling for two and a half years stage 4 colon cancer that metastasized to the liver.
Irene was born on May 3, 1971 to Jesus Ramon Figueroa and Esther San Miguel Figueroa in Corpus Christi, TX. She attended Casa Linda Elementary, Baker Middle School and W. B. Ray High School (1989). She graduated from Texas A & M University-Kingsville with a Bachelor (1995) and Master (1997) of Science in Mechanical Engineering respectively. Upon graduation she began her career at Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. in Hurst, TX. She then accepted an opportunity and continued her career at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Ft. Worth, TX.
Irene had a great devotion to her Catholic faith praying the rosary daily including prayer intentions. She had an amazing sense of humor. Adored her family and spent as much time with them as possible including family vacations. She loved to travel the world. She always enjoyed gatherings with family and friends where she was the life of the party.
Irene is survived by her mother, Esther San Miguel Figueroa; three sisters Emmelinda Figueroa, Isabel (Jim) Delgado and Patricia Figueroa; one niece, Julie-Anna Figueroa; two nephews, Luis Miguel Munoz and Jesse Ray Munoz as well as the father of nephews, Luis Munoz. She is preceded in death by her Father, Jesus Ramon Figueroa; maternal grandparents, Alejandro C. and Julia G. San Miguel and her paternal grandparents, Alfredo Z. and Antonia M. Figueroa.
Pallbearers will be Julie-Anna Figueroa, Luis Miguel Munoz, Jesse Ray Munoz, Rudy Garza, Rey Butanda and Arnold San Miguel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rudy San Miguel, Bobby San Miguel, Reynaldo Butanda Jr., Joe (Pepe) Figueroa, Julian Figueroa and Jorge Figueroa.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home (5922 Crosstown SH 285 CC, TX 78417). The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church (2509 Nogales St. CC, TX 78416). Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff at MD Anderson especially Dr. Cathy Eng and Community Hospice of Texas for their care. A special thank you to her aunt and uncle Josephina (Fina) and Reynaldo Jr. who graciously opened their home in Houston, TX. We would also like to thank all our family and friends who prayed, sent cards, sent messages through social media and came to visit her throughout her journey. Lastly to her amazing DFW family and friends for always being there for the last 20 years.
