Slough, Jr.
January 8, 1939 – October 12, 2022
Ira Jean Slough Jr born on January 8, 1939 in Eureka, Kansas to Ira Slough and Opal Carmichael Slough, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2022 at the age of 83. Ira graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1957. He went on to college. Ira enlisted in the Navy in 1961. He married Marcella Campbell McEnulty in February 1967. Ira and Marcella along with her 4 children, Loretta, Joe, Terri and Jacque were transferred to Corpus Christi via his Navy tour of duty. They made their home in Flour Bluff in January 1969 where he worked at the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi Hospital Pharmacy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war where he served several tours before leaving the Navy in 1974. He began working in the oil industry at Thermac Logging until his retirement. In his retirement he spent endless hours enjoying his grandchildren and great grand children. He will be missed by all of his family.
Ira is preceded in death by his parents Ira and Opal Slough, and his sister Nancy (Rollin) Gates, Sister-in-law Mildred (Roy) Park and Brother-in-law Earl Campbell. Ira is survived by his wife Marcella and a brother, Sam Slough; three nieces; Aurelia (Charles) Mauzey, Deb (Mike) Nusbaum, and DeAnn (Rick) Strickland, and five nephews Robert (Cheryl) Campbell, Randy Campbell, Tim (Ella) Park, Sammy Jr, and Gary Slough. Ira was extremely proud of his four children, Loretta McEnulty, Joseph (Deborah) McEnulty, Teresa McEnulty and Jacqueline McEnulty. Papa had 14 grandchildren Kirk Ammerman, Alex Ammerman, Jennifer Burdett Wilkes, Steven (Teresa) Flores, Paul Sanderford, Jimmy (Lindsay) Burdett, Laura (Greg) Hazard, James (Rhianna) Flores, Christi (Jim) Briggs, Jessica Burdett, Aimee (Brandon) Sanchez, Holly (Ethan) Smith, Michael Richenberg and Sarah Richenberg; 33 great grandchildren Zachary (Breanna) Wilkes, Tyler Wilkes, Cayce Matlock, Trinity Ammerman, Daphne Hazard, Crystin Matlock, Samantha Simpson, Elena Hazard, Alivia Briggs, Emmanuel Ammerman, Tylor Simpson, Mackenzie Burdett, Abigail Briggs, Jaxon Rubio, Zoey Ammerman, Jonathan Briggs, Aidan Flores, Luke Sanderford, Clayton Burdett, Kyle Sanderford, Zoe Flores, Jack Briggs, Kori Sanchez, James Flores, Charlotte Smith, Calleigh Burdett, Cora Briggs, Carter Sanchez, Everett Flores, Caleb Sanchez, Audrey Briggs, Mila Flores, James Smith; and one great great grandson, Arthur Wilkes.

Ira will rest in peace at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full military services on
Friday, November 18, 2022,
at 2pm. The cemetery is located at 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
