Ignacio, lovingly known as Nacho, was born on October 4, 1930 in Beeville TX to Ignacio and Margarita Carrion. After graduation from Corpus Christi High School in 1948 he enlisted in the US Air Force during the Korean war. He served his country proudly and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal. When he returned home he met and fell in love with Angelita Blanco, the love of his life. They married and had three children, Imelda, Roland, and George. They were married for 34 years until her death in 1987.

He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. He also enjoyed watching football games as a Longhorns and Cowboys fan. He liked watching war movies and westerns, especially those with James Arness and John Wayne. He traveled and went to casinos in his retirement years and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had many friends, always walked around with a smile and never met a stranger.

He worked for Southwestern Drugs in Corpus Christi and while living in California for 10 years he worked for the L.A. Drug Co Distribution Center and Thrifty Drugs as a warehouse manager. Ignacio moved his family back to Corpus Christi and worked as an insurance agent for American National for several years. He later worked for the US Postal Service, then the Corpus Christi Army Depot until his retirement in 1993.

Ignacio is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ignacio Carrion Sr and Margarita Rios Carrion Luna, his loving wife Angelita B Carrion, as well as his brothers Victor, Ramon, John, Albert, Jesse and Jose Carrion who died in infancy; his sister Delia Martinez, and his second wife Belia N Carrion.

He is survived by sisters Mercy Ford and Gloria Purdum, and his children Imelda Esparza (Robert) and Roland Carrion (Martha) and George Carrion (Patricia), grandchildren Erica Olivarez (Michael), Gabriel, Alexander, and Mark Carrion, and Christina Martinez (Brian). He also leaves behind 2 great-grandchildren Daniel and Amanda Olivarez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His loving family members will serve as pallbearers, sons Roland and George Carrion, grandsons Gabriel, Alexander and Mark Carrion, and nephew Ruben Carrion.

Service Information

Visitation will be held at Guardian Funeral Home on August 3rd from 8:30am-11am. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 11am and the Chapel Service will follow. The Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 1pm.
