Obituary

Harvey "Skip" Timmer passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

Skip was born on June 25, 1938, in Wolf Point, Montana, to parents Martin Timmer and Ferol Bernice Timmer (nee Johnson).  He spent his early years in Northeastern Montana before moving with his family to Littlefork, Minnesota.  He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Littlefork High School in 1956.  After graduation, Skip joined the US Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1964.

While stationed in San Antonio, Skip met Janet Schwethelm and they were married in February 1962.  Skip and Janet were married for 50 years until the time of her death in 2012.  During that time, they raised two sons, Douglas Harvey Timmer born in 1963 and Daniel Lester Timmer born in 1965.

Skip was kind and giving.  He was always available to help a friend.  He was active in his church, acting as a lay minister and teaching Sunday school and Bible study.  He was also very active in AA, crediting the Program for helping him through difficult times in his life and providing life-long friendships.

He was active throughout his life spending days fishing, kayaking, and riding his Can-Am Spyder.  He loved to travel and regularly took his camper on short trips and cross-country to Minnesota and California.  He spent his 81 st birthday on a solo motorcycle trip to visit family in Vermont and would often make a spur of the moment decision to ride to McAllen to have dinner with his son Doug, then ride home.  Most recently, he rode his Spyder to North Carolina to meet his son Dan and spent a week in April riding through the Smoky Mountains.  At the time of his death he was preparing for his annual summer trip to Minnesota

Skip is survived by his sons, Doug (Michelle) Timmer and Dan (Diana) Timmer, and grandchildren, Paul, Keith, Megan, Elise, Drew and David and great-grandson Liam; as well as sisters Irma (Charlie) Hofius and Dorothy (Greg) Catt, and brothers Mike Timmer and Perry (Bonnie) Timmer.  He is predeceased by his wife Janet Timmer, brothers Martin Timmer and Charles Timmer.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Rockport, Texas, on June 10 th at 10:30 AM.
