Aviation Electronics Technician Petty Officer 1st Class (AT1) Hal James Orr, a proud Vietnam veteran, passed away peacefully on August 09, 2024. He was born on November 26, 1942 in Terra Haute, IN.

Hal joined the United States Navy in July of 1961 and served until being honorably discharged in July of 1981. During his time in active duty he received four Good Conduct medals, a National Defense Service medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, a Vietnam Service medal, a Vietnam Campaign medal, and three Air medals, along with Navy Unit and Meritorious Unit commendations, and a Sea Service Deployment ribbon.

After retiring from the military, Hal worked at the Corpus Christi Army Depot at NAS Corpus Christi until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, growing tomatoes, and reading and watching Westerns. Every Thursday he could be found with his other military and CCAD friends for their weekly breakfast taco gatherings. His devoted dog, Nene, was always by his side at home and begging for belly rubs.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Frances Orr; his father, Hal William Orr; his brother, Ronald Joseph Orr; and his beloved wife, Setsuko Nojima Orr.

Hal is survived by his son, Hal Bryan Orr; his daughter, Donna Eileen Orr; his grandsons, Hal Landen and Lleyton Robert Orr; his sister, Christine Ann Grinstead, and her sons, Donald Tracy Grinstead and Michael Douglas Grinstead.

An internment for Hal will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00am at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery (9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410), where Full Military Honors will be rendered.
