Gregorio Aguirre Sr. passed away on August 23, 2022. He was 93 years old.

A native of Runge, Texas, Gregorio worked hard as a sharecropper with his family. As a young boy his brothers were all called to duty in WWII, while Gregorio was left to tend to his younger brother and continued his farming duties.

Gregorio met the love of his life, Eloisa Garcia, in Runge, and they were married on June 12, 1950, in Karnes City, Texas. Gregorio continued working on the farm when his first-born son, Gregorio Aguirre Jr. (Debbie) came into the world in 1951. Near the end of 1951, Gregorio Sr. received his final annual check when he came to the sad realization that he had only made $150.00. Gregorio, looking for better opportunities and quality of life packed up all that he had and took his wife, baby son, and his parents then relocated to the big city of Corpus Christi, Texas. After several humble jobs, he was finally hired as a butcher at Feudo's Grocery, working alongside his brother Fernando for 30 years until his retirement.

Gregorio had a wonderful and blessed life with his wife Eloisa Garcia-Aguirre, they were blessed with four more children, Irene Ramirez (Sylvester), Carmen Garcia (Manuel), George Aguirre (Judy), and Albert Aguirre. Gregorio's blessings continued with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren! Gregorio is survived by his wife, Eloisa, and his children. His brothers Joe, Henry, Richard, and Fernando all preceded him in death. Gregorio's parents Santiago and Margarita-Rodriguez-Aguirre all from Runge, Texas, also preceded him in death.

Gregorio loved camping, fishing, travel, gambling and eating. He had a full life alongside his wife of 72 years. Gregorio, (Mr. G) husband, father, son, and grandfather is a great example to all of us as a hard-working, loving, caring, and enduring man. He will be sadly missed, until we meet again, we love you dad.

Visitation and a prayer service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. lead by Deacon Fino Palacios at Guardian Funeral Home 5922 Crosstown Corpus Christi, TX 78417. A short vigil will be held on Monday August 29, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. followed by a 90-minute drive to Runge, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church 908 South Helena Runge, Texas 78151. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at The Runge City Cemetery.
