Gregorio R. Hidalgo, "Chief" , as he was known to many, passed away on November 1, 2023 at the age of 71.

He was born on May 9, 1952 to his parents Lorenzo A. Hidalgo and Ramona Rodriguez Hidalgo in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Gregorio proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring after 24 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo A. Hidalgo and Ramona R. Hidalgo.

Gregorio is survived by his loving wife Maria T. Hidalgo, children, Greg R. Hidalgo, Jr. "Goyito" and daughter-in-law; Cheryl Basham, Julio Hidalgo, Minerva Hidalgo, Cynthia Hidalgo and Margelly Hidalgo, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren; his siblings, Fernando Hidalgo, Yoli Alvarado, Sandra Hidalgo and Sylvia Hidalgo; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Public Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:30 a.m. in Chapel A; the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2233 Waldron Rd. (Flour Bluff)

Inurnment with Full Military Honors will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 ; at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Rd.
