Gracie Sanchez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece and now an angel in heaven, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Gracie was born on May 28, 1958, to Santiago and Virginia Cantu. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Ray Sanchez, on July 12, 1975. They were about to celebrate their 46 th wedding anniversary.
Gracie cherished her family, her two amazing children, Jessica and Chris, and her absolute love, Milagro Grayce. She served as an honorary Madrina for her two nieces, Ashley and Ruby, and served as a Bonus Gigi to Kolleen.
Gracie was strong in her faith and member of the Schoenstatt Community. Her devotion to Our Lady of Schoenstatt culminated when she made her Covenant of Love. She cherished that moment.
Gracie had an extensive and successful career in banking. She was well-known for her professionalism and involvement with various banks and credit unions. She served on the board of the Texas Credit Union and the Corpus Christi Food Bank before her retirement. She played an instrumental role in the Texas Children's Miracle Network during her tenure at Driscoll Hospital Credit Union.
Gracie walked into a room and the world was brighter. Her smile, personality and glam radiated the room. Her love of bright colors and her signature pattern, leopard, was known by all who were lucky enough to know and love her. She loved people, traveling, and designer shopping. Her New York shopping excursions were legendary.
Gracie is survived by her loving husband of 45 years. Ray Sanchez, her children, Jessica Sanchez, and Christopher Sanchez (Edith) and her grandchild, Milagro Grayce Sanchez. She is also survived by siblings Christina Ybarra, Leticia Cantu, and Jaime Cantu (Laura), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Gracie is preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Virginia Cantu and her father-in-law Juan Sanchez.
Gracie loved her family and friends, and we were blessed to have her in our lives. Please join us as we celebrate her life in vibrant colors and leopard print. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Guardian Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 that evening. On Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Guardian Funeral Home, a Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 am with a funeral procession beginning at 11:00 and interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m.
