Grace "Pinky" Avalos was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 4, 1949. After a long battle with a rare and aggressive form of dementia, she left this world in peace to be with our Lord and Savior on June 13, 2018. She graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1968, and after graduation joined the United States Air Force. After her service, she attended Del Mar College and pursued a career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, caring for patients for over 35 years. Her hobbies included bowling, dancing and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her father Jose Avalos, Jr., mother Estefana "Fannie" Trevino Vasquez and brother Epifano Vasquez, Jr.
She is survived by Karen (Virgil) Jenzen, Michael A. Munoz, Tanner Chennault, Modesta G. (Andrew) Cantu, Kaitlin Jenzen, Mathew A. Vela, Emily Jenzen, Ayden Bass, Brysen Bass, Isaac A. Cantu, Stephanie M. (Daniel) Herrera, Conrad Martinez, Jr., Nathaniel S. Martinez, Stacia A. Martinez, Cortney A. Martinez, Davin J. Herrera, Emma K. Herrera, Patricia A. (Victor S.) Trevino-Gonzalez, Victor S. (Leti) Gonzalez III, Alexis M. Gonzalez, Cyleste R. Gonzalez, Aaron P. Gonzalez, Noah I. Gonzalez. Siblings Richard (Juanita) Avalos, Sandra (Pedro) Almanza, Diana (Roger) Cruz.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 20, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410 with a Celebration of Life to follow at Kelsey Memorial Methodist Church, 1610 Comanche Street, Corpus Christi, Texas.
