IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gordon Raymond
Hawk
September 4, 1955 – October 30, 2023
Gordon Raymond Hawk, 68, passed away October 30, 2023 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 4, 1955 to his parents Charles and Kathleen Hawk.
He attended Mon Valley Catholic High School, where he graduated in 1973. He began his 20 year-long Navy career shortly after graduation, and was a proud Vietnam War Veteran. Throughout his military life, he obtained numerous awards and decorations to include: AD1 E6, NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, SEA SERVICE MEDAL W/ 1 BRONZE STAR, NAVY EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL. NAVY ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL, FIFTH GOOD CONDUCT AWARD, ARMED FORCES EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL, NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL (2ND AWARD), SEA SERVICE DEPLOYMENT RIBBON (4TH AWARD), EXPERT PISTOL , ENLISTED SURFACE WARFARE SPECIALIST DESIGNATION , ENLISTED AVIATION WARFARE SPECIALIST DESIGNATION. He left his Navy career in 1993 to chase contracts around the world until he went to Brazil where he met the love of his life, as he used to say, 23 years ago.
He was the best man I've ever known, and the best father anyone could ever ask for. He will be remembered for his kind, beautiful soul. He lit up any room he walked into and always made his family his number one priority. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting; he always found great joy being outdoors.
He was a life-long Pittsburgh Steeler's fan (who wanted to fire Matt Canada), and he always said he'd bleed black and gold until the day he died. His love for Pennsylvania never diminished.
We miss him every minute of every day, and we will cherish him and the moments we had together for the rest of our lives.
Gordon was preceded in death by his father and younger brother, Tommy.
He leaves his loving wife Andrea, his stepsons Mario and Bruno, his little girl Rebecca, his sisters Brigid and Connie and his mother Kathleen (who passed 10 days after him) to cherish his memory.
A Memorial Service with Full Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access. Rd.
