Gloria married Manuel C. Ortiz Sr. on June 27, 1960 and they shared 62 years together. Gloria was a devoted wife and loving sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She retired from the Corpus Christi Caller Times, she loved and cherished her family and devoted her life to caring for others. She spent 20+ years caring for her mother and her father in law. She also served her community through the Senior Companion Program for more than 10 years. When she wasn't caring for others she enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing, dancing, going to casinos and she was also an avid reader. One of her favorite things to do was to relax at the Bayfront watching the waves.

Gloria is survived by her husband Manuel C. Ortiz Sr, her children: Angelita (Fred) Schwedhelm, Manuel (Idalia) Ortiz, Jr, Irene (Eliseo) Jaramillo, Mary Ellen (Antonio) Figueroa, Mary Alice (Duryl) Mixon and Rafael (Naomi) Ortiz. Brothers: Ruben (Rosa) Martinez, Sr and Oscar Martinez. Sisters: Amelia (Louis) Lerma, Dora (Jaime) Ramiro Sr, Rachel Ybarra, Irene (Christopher) Rodriguez, Connie Herrera and Olga Perez. She was also blessed with 30 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Geraldo and Margarita Martinez, her brothers, Luis Martinez, Geraldo Martinez Jr and her sister Delia DeLeon. Her granddaughter Roxann Castellano and grandson Richard Leos.

Gloria will be greatly missed by all but her memory, will live on in our hearts.

Public visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Guardian funeral home with a Holy rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m.
