Gloria Ann Cortez passed away on September 2, 2024 at the age of 63. Gloria was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 29, 1961 to Fidel Gonzales and Elvira Moreno. Gloria is survived by her husband, Ernest Cortez, her two sons Ernest "E.J." Cortez & Matthew Joshua Cortez (Magaly & Zoralys Rodriguez), and her beloved dog, Nala, as well as numerous cousins and in-laws.

Gloria graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1979 and went to work as an Insurance Underwriter for Sam Celum Insurance (Farmers Insurance) for 20 years. She then worked as a department manager at Wal-Mart for an additional 12 years until retiring.

Mrs. Cortez was a very loving and caring woman who loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was very prideful of the success her sons have accomplished and always believed in them. She wouldn't miss anyone's birthdays, any holidays festivities, nor any family gatherings. She was known for her passion for Elvis Presley and the Dallas Cowboys. Her favorite color was purple and her favorite hobbies were gardening, arts & crafts, and shopping.

She cherished every moment she could have with her beloved granddaughter Zoralys - whether it was picking her up from school,  going on dinner dates, or simply sitting outside while Zoralys painted or played with chalk. She had the biggest heart and always put others first. She always made sure her loved ones had everything they needed and more!

She will leave a lasting memory in the hearts of all those that were blessed to have known her. Although we may still need her, we will carry on strongly just as she would have done so herself.

Visitation will be held at Guardian Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 11th from 4-8pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30pm.
