In Loving Memory

With grateful hearts and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Gloria Diaz Carpenter on September 15, 2026. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Gloria was born on July 28, 1946, in Robstown, Texas, and devoted her life to caring for others. With more than 40 years of experience as a surgical and dialysis nurse, she touched many lives with her compassion, dedication, and sincere respect for every patient. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her robust spirit for life defined her personality, bringing light and warmth to everyone around her.

Gloria found the greatest joy in time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Some of her happiest moments were at the beach, enjoying the sun and water. Holidays were especially meaningful to Gloria, who loved celebrating Halloween, Easter, and Christmas. She genuinely enjoyed crafting and decorating for holidays and special occasions. She treasured family gatherings, sharing meals and creating lasting memories. Her creativity and enthusiasm made family celebrations memorable and brought joy to those around her. A devoted Cowboys fan, Gloria loved cheering on her team and proudly wearing her Cowboys gear, making sure everyone knew where her loyalty lay.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Samuel J. Carpenter, and their children, Cruz Vasquez Jr. (Jaime Barnett), Debra C. Guzman (Aaron), and Vanessa M. Garcia (Sylvester). She was a cherished grandmother to Gunnery Sergeant Joshua L. Vasquez (Savannah), Rylie Barnett, Alexis Garcia, Avery Guzman, Noah Garcia, and Adele Guzman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her siblings: Juan Diaz, Joe Diaz, Bertha Galindo, Teresa Diaz, and Meme Diaz, as well as her parents, Beatrice Diaz and Juan Diaz.

Our family extends our heartfelt gratitude to New Century Hospice nurse Tammy for her compassion and the comfort she provided our family during such a challenging time.

Gloria leaves behind a beautiful legacy of compassion, strength, faith, and love that will endure for the generations she cherished so deeply. Her love, laughter, and cherished memories will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Service Information

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd, at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown S.H. 286, Corpus Christi, TX, from 4 pm to 8 pm. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue at Guardian on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 11:30. The Funeral Mass will be at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church at 12 p.m., followed by the Burial at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. Following the burial, the family will host a reception honoring Gloria at Guardian Hall, 5813 Ayers, Corpus Christi, TX, from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
