Glenda Lynn (Anthony) Boehk, 81, of Rockport, Texas, departed this life on Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Rockport, Texas after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was fortunate to have many good years while in and out of remission thanks to Dr. Alfonso Villamil and his staff at the Corpus Christi Cancer Center. Glenda was born in Canton, Ohio, November 1, 1934, to Caroline Jane and Glenn Donald "Tony" Anthony. She graduated from the University of Toledo (Ohio) and she married Paul in the same weekend and then immediately headed for Victoria, Texas where Paul was in flight training. Her teaching career started there in Victoria, Texas and she retired in Maumee, Ohio after many years of teaching. She taught varying grade levels and at many schools however, she enjoyed teaching Kindergarten the most. She took pleasure in traveling, art, sewing, crafting, playing bunko with friends, reading with the book club, solving crossword puzzles, and most of all entertaining and caring for family and friends.
Glenda is survived by her children, daughter, Shelley (Scott) Dinkens of Corpus Christi and son, Scott (Vivian) Boehk of Bowling Green, Ohio; grandchildren, Devon Dinkens, Dillon Dinkens, Drew Dinkens, Dana Dinkens, Emily Bacon, and Audrey (Anthony) Green; great grandchildren, Cameron Green and Kirsten Green. She is also survived by her extended family: a sister, Christine Swiatek (Dave) of Perrysburg, Ohio and their children, David (Christina) Swiatek, Laurie (Dave) Stoiber, and Stacey (Alan) Clink, and their children and grandchildren; brother-in-law, Phillip Boehk, and sister-in-law, Rev. Dr. Karen S. Boehk, and their children, Matthew (Leslie) Boehk, and Christopher (Jennifer) Boehk and their children; niece, Carol Vollbrecht; and dear friends, Judy (Don) McCullough, Martha Johnson, Teresa (Don) Bacon, and Tom Johnson. Her husband, Paul E. Boehk, her parents, and her sister-in-law, Shirley Vollbrecht, precede her in death.
The family wishes to thank New Century Hospice (Lucinda, Rosalie, Nurse Carol, and Chaplains Tim and Susan) and Glenda's friends at Holy Cross Lutheran Church for the special care and considerations they made to Glenda and family.
Family and friends will be received at services for Glenda at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rockport, Texas on December 28, 2015, at 1:00 with Testimonials to follow in the Fellowship Hall. A graveside service will be in the spring where she will be laid to rest at Ft. Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg, Ohio (an announcement will be made at that time.) In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation (TOKC) http://triumphoverkidcancer.org/donate/ "dedicated to improving the lives of children with cancer … and funding research to improve the treatment and survivability of pediatric cancers. To date, TOKC has funded over $3 million dollars of research into pediatric cancers through our partnership with M.D Anderson in the Children's Sarcoma Project. Every dollar we raised was matched dollar for dollar by M.D. Anderson."
