IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gilberto "Gilbert"
Guerrero
July 11, 1955 – August 15, 2025
The family of Gilbert Guerrero shares his peaceful passing on August, 15, 2025, at the age of 70 surrounded by his loving family. He will always be remembered as a man of God that loved worshiping the Lord with his guitar. He was full of joy and gifted with making others laugh while uplifting their spirits.
Gilbert Guerrero was born on July 11, 1955 in Corpus Christi, TX, and will be reunited in heaven with his parents Jesus Guerrero Sr. and Carmen Padilla Guerrero. He was a loyal brother to Jesus (Esperanza) Guerrero Jr, the late David Guerrero Sr. and Beatriz (Abel) Rodriguez.
Gilbert graduated from Miller High School in 1973. He was a master mechanic for 40+ years. He made friends wherever he went with his love of story telling and his willingness to help others with guidance and advice. Throughout his life he was an active member of his church, serving in various positions such as a Sunday School Teacher, Music Minster, Deacon and other ministries.
Gilbert met the love of his life, Ofelia, in 1970 at his church when she moved from California. He always recalled the moment he knew she was the one he would marry because she was not embarrassed to finish a meal in front of him on their early dates. He married Ofelia Balderas Guerrero on December 27, 1975 at Primera Asamblea de Dios officiated by Reverend Raul Rodriguez. Gilbert and Ofelia were looking forward to celebrating their 50th anniversary this December.
They were blessed with three children Benjamin Guerrero, Adina (Rick) Gonzales, Andres (Michelle) Guerrero, nine grandchildren and 17 nephews and nieces. A countless number of relatives and friends who will forever treasure the memories and laughs shared over his life. Although he really enjoyed playing the guitar and working on cars, his favorite role was being a grandparent. He treasured his time with his granddaughters and loved being their grandpa, never failing to teach them music and how to find laughter in life.
Visitation and funeral services will be held August 27, 2025 at Guardian Funeral home with family viewing at 9:00 am, public viewing at 11:00 am and memorial service at 1:00 pm. Reverend Dr. Arnold Zuniga Sr. and Pastor Dean Bearden will be officiating the service. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are his nephews and friends.
