Gilbert A. Coker was born on March 30, 1983-in Corpus Christi, Texas to his loving parents Rosie and Michael Coker and went home to our Lord on September 10, 2023.

"Gil" was a 2001 graduate of Mary Carroll High School and attended Del Mar College. He was a loving son to Rosie and Mike, and a devoted father to Damian A. Coker, Madisyn Paige Coker, and Michael Antonio Coker.

He is survived by his sisters Jeanette (Rey) Munguia and Jacqueline (Joseph H) Ortiz; his brothers Will (Cynthia) Canon and Kevin Canon; aunts Mary Gauger, Lupe Cruz and Faye Ortiz; Uncle Richard (Patsy) Ortiz as well as his adopted sister Rita Martinez. He leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews, several cousins, as well as his Whataburger family, customers, and his cat Genesis.

Gil enjoyed going to Bingo, casinos and his trips to New York and Las Vegas. He enjoyed all genres of music, especially Billy Joel and Blink 182.

Gil enjoyed serving in production at Church Unlimited, Gil was known for his love and devotion to his Lord and Savior.

He was also a self-appointed spoke-person for Whataburger greeting everyone on Facebook with a "good morning" and a picture of his Whataburger cup of coffee!!

He will always be remembered for his parody songs, his crazy jokes and goofy faces that would bring a smile to everyone's face.

Gil has joined his grandfather's Pedro Ortiz and Howard Coker, his grandmothers Janie Ortiz-Garza and Jean Moon, sister Paula Hobbs, uncles Floyd Gauger, Pedro Ortiz Jr. and Johnny Ortiz, and his cousin Lucinda Posada Rodela as well as his cat Capri Coker.

Visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2023 , from 10 am to 12 pm at Guardian Funeral Home 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, TX 78417
