Gervacio Salinas Canales passed away on October 1, 2022, in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 87.
He was born in Benavides, Texas to his parents Flavio Canales and Herlinda Salinas Canales on March 20, 1935.

A beloved father, grandfather to three generations, brother, uncle, cousin and friend is now at rest. Intimately known as "Chito" to his close family and friends. After receiving his formal education at Benavides High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. His fighting spirit and legacy of strength and perseverance will live on in our hearts for generations to come.

He is preceded in death by his parents Flavio and Herlinda S. Canales; his son Francisco Eduardo "Eddie" Canales; granddaughter Patricia Canales; former spouse, Irene Canales; siblings:  Flavio Canales, Jr. and Sylvia Cavasos.

Gervacio is survived by his children: David Roland Canales (Debbie), Michael James Canales, Belinda Marie Covich (Daniel), Noe Elizondo (Diana); grandchildren: Jason, Kippton (Vaughn), Kateland (Alec), Phoenix, Chloe, Nicholas, Noe, Brandon, Victor, and Miranda; great-grandchildren: Julian, Justin, and Ryland; two siblings: Eduardo Canales and Herlinda Ramirez (Enrique); former spouse Mary Sanchez (Gilbert); along with a host of extended family members and friends whom he loved.

Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022 , at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown, the funeral procession will depart at 10:45 a.m. for a 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at S.S. Cyril And Methodius Catholic Church, 3210 S Padre Island Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78415.

Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery 9974 IH 37 Access Rd.
