IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald Jerome
Bell, Sr.
June 18, 1949 – May 30, 2025
Gerald Jerome Bell Sr. peacefully entered eternal rest on May 30, 2025. Born on June 18, 1949, in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was the youngest of ten children born to Andy Sr. and Ethel Bell.
Gerald was educated in the Corpus Christi public school system, attending Carver Elementary, Cunningham Junior High, and graduating from Roy Miller High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a Military Police officer stationed in Germany.Following his honorable service, Gerald began a long and dedicated career with Southwestern Bell, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in November 2000.
A man of deep faith, Gerald joined the church at an early age and was a devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He actively participated in the men's choir and the United Methodist Men's ministry, sharing both his voice and his spirit with his church family.
Gerald was an avid fisherman and golfer, passions he enjoyed most when shared with his son Zachary and close friends. However, his greatest joy came from being a devoted father and beloved "Poppi" to his grandchildren, whom he adored.
In 1986, Gerald married the love of his life, Vanessa Garner. Together they built a beautiful life and raised a family that brought them immense pride and happiness. He is survived by his loving wife Vanessa; sons Zachary (Carol) of San Antonio, TX and Gerald Jr. (Jeannette) of Monroe, GA; daughters Brandy of Katy, TX, Brooke (Michael) of Casablanca, Morocco, Bridgette of Duluth, GA and Stephanie of Covington, GA; sister Ella Clerkley of Corpus Christi, TX; and brother Reverend Troy Bell (Glenda) of Kyle, TX. Gerald's legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren—Cameron, Micah, Brianna—along with 9 other grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers—Andy Jr., Minor, Otis, Jack, John, and Don—and one sister, Annie Jean Hatfield.
