Genoveva Vasquez Pena, 94, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brownsville, Texas on December 3, 1921. She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan G. Pena. Genoveva will be dearly missed and never forgotten. She is survived by her children, Mary Garcia (Joe Garcia), Juan V. Pena ( Felipa Pena), Merced V. Pena ( Elodia Pena), Amelia Pena Lopez. She is survived by 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Public visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Guardian funeral home chapel "A" with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic church. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Pena, Alfredo Pena, Ralph Velasquez, Richard Velasquez, Scott Pena and Gene Garza.
