With his family at his side, Francisco "Pancho" Castillo, age 92, went home to our heavenly Father on October 12, 2014. A brother, husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, and so much more, Francisco proudly served his country in the Korean War and World War II and taught all who came after him the meaning of hard work, persistence, and providing for family. He was born on October 4, 1922 in Laredo, Texas to Adolfo Castillo and Vicenta Martinez. On May 8, 1948, he married Inocencia Palomo, and they had six children: Mary (Gilbert), Javier (Elda), Rosie (Cecilio), Frank (Yvonne), Norma (Dan), and Rene.



Francisco loved his family and was loved by his family. Although he always wanted to do everything himself, he was always there when family and friends needed a hand, and he never asked why or how come. He was fearless, courageous yet driven and tenacious. Dad always wanted more for his children. Grandpa was full of life, stubborn as an ox, and loved to tell stories. He led a good, long life filled with joy, struggles, and many lasting memories. He leaves behind a legacy of loved ones: his wife, Inocencia; 6 children; 11 grandchildren (Gilbert Jr., Victoria, Marco, Kristina, Jared, Joseph, Chris, Adrienne, Jennifer, Janette, Joshua) and 15 great-grandchildren.



A Rosary Vigil will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 7 pm at Guardian Funeral Home, located at 5922 Crosstown in Corpus Christi. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 12 pm at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church, located at 1101 Bloomington in Corpus Christi, with burial service at 2 pm at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
