Obituary

Francisco "Frank" Bazán, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 20, 2022 at the age of 81.

He was born in Benavides, Texas to the late Jesus and Elida Bazán on July 17, 1941. At a young age, the family relocated to Ramirez, Texas, where he grew up, worked at the family dairy farm, and assisted his father in planting and harvesting numerous agricultural crops. He attended school in Benavides and graduated from Benavides High School, class of 1960. He attended Texas A&I University, Kingsville. He later attended Del Mar College and earned an Associate in Arts degree. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and achieved the rank of Sergeant during his term in the Vietnam War. After his Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in 1968, he moved to Corpus Christi and began working at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. On November 22, 1969, he married his wife of 53 years, Diana De Los Santos. In 1997, he retired from CCAD as a supervisor at Hanger 43 and kept himself active in the community serving in various boards and organizations, to include: the Nueces County Appraisal Review Board and the Nueces County Parks and Recreation Board. He was also a Member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the American Legion. In 2002, he began a second career with the Nueces County Building Maintenance Department where he was employed until his retirement in 2012. Upon his second retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, gambling, and watching his favorite television channels: Sports and Western Classics.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Elida Bazán, his son Mark Anthony Bazán, his sister Maria Nora Bazán Garza; as well as his beloved aunts, Celia Ramirez and Aurora Ramirez, who were instrumental in his upbringing in Benavides, Texas.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend is now at rest.
Frank leaves behind to cherish these memories, his wife of 53 years Diana Bazán, children: Francisco "Frank" Bazán, Jr. and Diana Liza Bazán-Orta (Armando Orta); grandchildren: Tony Bazán, Camila Bazán, Elias Francisco Orta; and his brother Jesus Bazán, Jr. (Leonor); along with a host of other loving family members and numerous friends whom he cherished.

Public Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.

Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home with the funeral procession to depart at 11:30 a.m. for a 12:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5830 Williams Dr ., Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Rd.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the love and support each of you have poured out over the past few weeks with food, flowers, visits, cards, phone calls, messages, texts, etc.

Also, many thanks to the dedicated staff of Nurses on Wheels Hospice, Corpus Christi; for the compassionate and diligent care they provided to Frank in his final weeks. Our hearts are full. Thank you!
