IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Felicia Korkoi
Aryee
September 14, 1949 – August 28, 2022
Felicia Korkoi Aryee was born to the late James Ayitey Aryee and Mariam Teikor
Nartey who hailed form Accra, Ghana. She was born in Accra on the 14th day of
September 1949 and the third born of nine children. She started her elementary
education at the Accra United Primary School at Abossey Okai and continued to
Kaneshie Methodist Girls in Accra. She sat and passed the then Common Entrance
Examination and gained admission to Navrongo Secondary School on a half
scholarship. After completion of her secondary school education in 1967, she
worked as a clerk with the Ghana Revenue Authority and then the Income Tax
Department for a short while. She moved to the United Kingdom in May 1970 to
pursue schooling in Nursing, Midwifery and Neonatal care, Psychiatry and High
Risk Obstetrics.
1975 saw her travelling to Canada to join her husband Mr. Eric Gyamfi. They were
blessed with their son, Nii Gyamfi in May of 1979. Felicia was well traveled and
her career in nursing took her all over the world. In 1986 she took up an
assignment at the Labor and Delivery unit at King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh,
Saudi Arabia where she worked until the Fall of 1991. During her time there she
found herself in the middle of the Gulf War conflict when Iraq launched missiles at
targets in Saudi Arabia. Thankfully, she came through the harrowing experience
unscathed. Felicia returned to Canada in late '91 where she continued in Nursing
until she was recruited by a Texas hospital in May of 1996. She remained in Texas
until her passing.
Felicia is survived by her son Nii, her daughter-in-law, Jennifer as well as Savanah,
Alicia, Justus and Hope, her darling grandchildren in addition to numerous
brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. There were the myriad of
relationships she built with her church family in Corpus Christi, TX at Kingdom
Acts Ministries as well. Many of the members contributed greatly to Felicia's care
in her final days. Their kindness to her can't be overstated and we're eternally
grateful for the love they showed her.
