Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eusebio Guillen, Jr., affectionately known as "Gilly" on August 1, 2025.

Born in Victoria, Texas on May 2, 1933, Gilly was a man of quiet strength, known for his integrity, generosity, and deep devotion to his family. His wisdom and warmth touched the lives of all who knew him. Whether sharing stories from his remarkable life, offering a helping hand, or simply being present, he made everyone feel valued and loved.

Some of Gilly's favorite pastimes include fishing, bowling, hunting and taxidermy, and taking pictures and videos of his family at every gathering. He could always be seen with a camera or video recording device (including an 8mm silent film camera/projector, camcorder, and most recently his cell phone), capturing important and everyday moments of his family's lives.

Gilly was a proud veteran of the Korean War, he served honorably in the United States Army, demonstrating courage and commitment to his country. After his military service, he continued his dedication to public safety as a firefighter for the Corpus Christi Fire Department, for 32 years, protecting his community with unwavering bravery and selflessness. Upon retiring, he became a member of the Retired Fire Fighters Union of
Corpus Christi.

Gilly was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christina Gloria Guillen, his youngest son Jaime Louis Guillen, his grandson John David Guillen, and by his loving parents, Eusebio Guillen, Sr. and Tomasita Ybarbo Guillen. He is survived by his sister Tommie Navarro, brother Albert Guillen, daughters Delia C. Groth, Gloria L. Wood (Darrell), Lois M. Abrego (Felix "Phil"), his sons Eusebio E. "Steve" Guillen, Jasper J. Guillen (Connie), and Ralph R. Guillen, and his cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey Sanders, Mark Sanders, Anthony Abrego, Candace Kuhn, Steve Guillen, Lucas Guillen, Jaclyn Guillen, Lexie Guillen, Joshua Guillen, Jacob Guillen, a number of great grandchildren, several great- great grandchildren, and many loving nephews, nieces, friends and family. His legacy lives on through the traditions he cherished, the lessons he taught, and the memories lovingly held by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 11, 2025, at 4:30p with a Rosary beginning at 6:30p at Guardian Funeral Home. Visitation will commence on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Guardian funeral home with the farewell viewing to begin at 9:00a. The funeral procession will depart at 10:30a to Memory Gardens cemetery for the 11:00a Committal services with full military honors and a Fireman's farewell.

A reception will follow at Guardian Hall, 5813 Ayers St., Corpus Christi, TX.
