Eunice "Mitzi" Jupe, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning on Tuesday June 23, 2020.
Mitzi was born July 20, 1923 in Sherman, Kansas. She grew up in Kansas where she graduated secretarial school. From Kansas she moved to Missouri and in the 1970's she moved to south Texas where she lived the remainder of her life. Being bright and enterprising she became a very successful businesswoman in a time when that was rare, while also raising three children. In her later years, she continued to exercise her entrepreneurial talents at local swap meets with her best friend and husband, Leroy Jupe.
She was a woman of many talents. She was a master quiltmaker along with other needlework crafts. Another of her many talents was playing both the organ and piano. She was an avid traveler and visited every state in the county as well as Mexico. She loved history and her trips always included visiting historical sites.
She also had other passions. She was a lover of animals and had many dogs, cats and even a parrot over the years. She and Leroy spent many an hour playing competitive dominos. She was active in the base chapel, where she enjoyed many friendships and communing with God.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Leroy Jupe. She is survived by her three children, Deanna Stewart, her husband Vic and her son Lonnie Anderson; Mike Vawter and his children Willy, Chris and John; and Jack Vawter and his children Doug, Jeff, Faith and Bethany. As well as great grandchildren Tegan, Axle, Luke, Lake and Emery.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel "B".
Burial will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery 9974 I.H. 37 Access Rd.
